2011 INTERNATIONAL POOL | SPA | PATIO EXPO TO FEATURE THE APSP TECHNICAL SERVICE INSTITUTE
DALLAS – September 22, 2011 – Offering service professionals an opportunity to match professional certification with comprehensive training, the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP) will offer its advanced educational programs prior to the 2011 Int’l Pool | Spa | Patio Expo, October 30 through November 1 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada USA.
Presented by the APSP Service Council, the APSP Technical Service Institute, part of the APSP Career Institute, is an intense two-day program of cutting-edge training on the most challenging service issues with solutions that can be implemented now, saving time, money and headaches.

Classes on Monday, October 31, include, “YOU: The Official ADA Expert for Your Customers,” “Demystifying the Chemistry of Salt Water Chlorine Generation,” “Selecting, Installing & Maintaining Salt Water Chorine Generators,” “Stains: What are They? Where Did They Come From?” “Traditional Start-Up for Plaster and Other Finishes,” and “Start-Up for Fiberglass and Vinyl Liner Pools.”
Classes on Tuesday, November 1, include, “OSHA Safety Training for Technicians,” “Myths of Metal Staining,” “Acid Start-Up for Plaster and Other Finishes,” and “Bicarbonate Start-Up for Plaster and Other Finishes.” Also held on Tuesday is a Behind the Scenes Tour of the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef.
Technical Service Institute speakers include John Caden, Geoffrey Brown, John Naquin, Barry Driks, Randy Dukes, Lance Sada, Tommy Johnson, Jason J. Karamanol, Dennis Chapman, Dr. Joseph Laurino, Chris Romero, Kevin Kostka, and Kim Skinner.
For attendees wanting even more of a comprehensive professional development experience, the three-day APSP Technical Service Institute + CBP Prep Course offers the APSP Technical Service Institute in addition to the plus the CBP Certified Service Professional® Certification Prep Course and Exam, leading to the highest level of professional certification in the industry.
While anyone can participate in the Technical Service Institute, attendees must have five or more years of industry experience and 24 hours of continuing education credits to qualify to take the CSP exam and prep course. The APSP Technical Service Institute + CBP Prep Course includes admission to the three-day program, the Certified Service Program Prep Course, the APSP Service Tech Manual, 4th Edition, the Certified Service Program Exam [if qualified], a Super Pass, as well as admission to the Expo, one of the three Power Panels, the Welcome Party at LAX, the APSP Live Workshops and the Saber BBQ & Beer Bash. Advance prices are $880 for APSP members and $1,380 for non-members.
The APSP Technical Service Institute Monday/Tuesday Pass includes admission to the two-day program, a Super Pass, as well as admission to the Expo, one of the three Power Panels, the Welcome Party at LAX, the APSP Live Workshops and the Saber BBQ & Beer Bash. Advance prices are $630 for APSP members and $730 for non-members.
The APSP Technical Service Institute Tuesday Pass includes admission to the one-day program, a Super Pass, as well as admission to the Expo, one of the three Power Panels, the Welcome Party at LAX, the APSP Live Workshops and the Saber BBQ & Beer Bash.
