GENESIS 3 TO OFFER CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN SCHOOLS AT THE 2010 INTERNATIONAL POOL | SPA | PATIO EXPO
DALLAS – September 23, 2010 – Builders, designers and landscape architects attending the 2010 International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo will have the opportunity to attend in-depth instructional sessions taught by the Genesis 3 Design Group, one of the industry's most-respected experts in watershape design and construction.
The Genesis 3 Elements of Construction School and Design Schools are a key element of the Expo’s pre-show, high-level educational programs designed to teach higher standards in watershape design and construction.
“The Genesis 3 Elements of Construction School and Design Schools are designed for individuals who aspire to perform at the highest level,” said Brian Van Bower, President and Co-Founder of Genesis 3. “Attendees who complete the courses will excel in construction and design, taking their careers to the next level.”
Debuting at the 2010 show is the Genesis 3 Elements of Construction School, where attendees will learn the latest principles in layout and excavation, soils, hydraulics/plumbing/gravity flow, engineering and reinforcement, bonding, grounding and electrical, shotcrete, concrete and decking, tile and coping, plaster, and much more.
The Elements of Construction School will be held from 8:00 am - 5:30 pm on Sunday, October 31, Monday, November 1 and Tuesday, November 2. Lunch is included each day.
The class will be conducted with the most knowledgeable tradesmen, designers and engineers in the industry, including Greg Andrews, Greg Andrews Tile; Ron Steadman, Cactus Stone & Tile; Randy Dukes, National Plasters Council; Genesis 3 Platinum and SWD Member Paolo “Paul” Benedetti, Aquatic Technology Pool and Spa; David Peterson, Watershape Consulting; Larry Parmalee, Parmalee Geology; Terry Brannon, The C.T. Brannon Corporation; Genesis 3 Platinum and SWD Member William Drakeley, Drakeley Swimming Pool Company; and Brian Van Bower, Skip Phillips and David Tisherman, Co-founders, Genesis 3 Design Group.
Admission to the Elements of Construction School also include a Super Pass, admission to the Expo, one of the four Power Panels and the Welcome Party at Haze. The advance registration fee is $2,950 before October 5 and $3,150 thereafter.
A second option, the Genesis 3 Design Schools, allow attendees to choose one from a selection of four 20-hour courses held over 2 1/2 days. Classes will be held from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Sunday, October 31, and from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on Monday, November 1 and Tuesday, November 2. The Monday and Tuesday classes include lunch.
Focusing on pools, spas, water features and ponds, the Genesis 3 Design Schools include the following 20-hour courses:
-- “Elements of Design,” introduces attendees to design principles such as line, texture, shape, balance, proportion, scale, spatial relationships, color and more. Attendees develop perceptual skills and creative awareness in ways that ultimately shape a true designer. This class is taught by Kevin Fleming, BSLA, SWD, Principal of Liquid Design, an influential design and construction company in the Northeast, where he has systematically redefined the backyard experience for a sophisticated clientele desiring outstanding construction and elegant materials.
-- “Color Theory and Design Application,” provides a detailed exploration of color perception that starts with the color wheel and carries through to individual experimentation and practical applications related to art, architecture and the dynamics of colors found around water. This class is presented by Judith Corona, Owner/Director of Art Adventures International, as well as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Art at Otis College of Art and Design, and is on the faculty at UCLA Extension in the Architecture, Interior Design, & Landscape Architecture Department.
-- “Advanced Fluid Engineering,” extrapolates the key fluid static and dynamic principles that apply to watershapes. Attendees will learn how to properly size plumbing and equipment, calculate TDH, operating costs, size chemical systems and other items. Taught by David J. Peterson, P.E., SWD, Watershape Consulting, Inc., Peterson is a registered civil engineer in multiple states, a member of the Society of Watershape Designers (SWD), and a Genesis 3 Platinum Member. Peterson writes for WaterShapes Magazine and is an advocate for safety, energy efficiency and improved design, engineering and construction in the industry.
-- “3-Dimensional Computer Drawing – Part I,” teach attendees to prepare their own pool designs within a user friendly, 3-D computer environment and then generate multiple views of the finished design. These accurately proportioned computer models will allow the student to explore form, space, light, texture and color in a familiar pencil and paper framework through Google SketchUp, an easy to use 3-D software package that is available free from Google. Presented by Richard Lee, President, Richard Lee and Associates, one of the top ten landscape architecture firms in Central Texas.
In addition to one 20-hour course, the Design Schools registration package also includes a Super Pass, admission to the Expo, one of the four Power Panels and the Welcome Party at Haze. The advance registration fee is $1,510 before October 5 and $1,720 thereafter.
