The mission of the North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) is to provide a unified source for the professional development, promotion, growth, and sustenance of the Deck and Railing building industry in North America so that members can exceed the expectations of their customers.


NADRA’s Deck Evaluation/Inspection Certification

NADRA's Deck Evaluation/Inspection Program is now ICC Approved for .40 Credits and ASHI Approved for 4 CEUs. 

This program will allow the industry professional the opportunity to employ the ability to safely evaluate a deck. A new APP/mobile form has been developed specifically for industry professionals as a comprehensive tool to be used to properly assess the safety issues of a deck.

The APP is launching soon (currently beta testing is in progress) and NADRA members who have gone through this certification program will be eligible to register and use this program.

After the Deck Evaluation Class, the individual will understand how to analyze the following deck components, issues, and more:

  • Stairs
  • Footings and Posts
  • Joists
  • Joist Connections
  • Girders
  • Ledger Connections
  • Deck Boards
  • Handrail Assemblies and Guards
  • Recognize proper and improper fasteners
  • Assess hardware or material corrosion
  • Review of the safety standards of all (decks, stairs, guards) structures

Master Deck Professional - CODE Education Certification

From the decking to the foundation, this course covers, in detail, all segments of a deck load path (except for ledgers and lateral loads covered in course 2 available on- demand. New IRC tables specific to deck joist and beam spans are discussed in depth, including little known details that increase their design flexibility. Foundation and posts can now be sized using tributary area and provisions for their connections provide for many methods.

This course reveals how the 2021 IRC is the most helpful yet in prescriptive deck design and construction.This course is approximately 3.0 hours and approved for 0.30 CEU from the International Code Council and 3.0 HSW LU from the American Institute of Architects.
